Eligibility Details

  • A recognized Master’s degree or equivalent in the relevant subject is required. General / EWS: 55% marks. OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD / PwBD / Third Gender: 50% marks
  • OR, 4-year Bachelor’s degree: 75% aggregate marks or equivalent grade in an 8-semester course. SC / ST / OBC-NCL / PwBD / EWS get 5% relaxation.
  • The 4-year degree route is accepted for JRF and Ph.D., but not for Assistant Professor eligibility.
  • Master’s final-year and result-awaited candidates may apply. After the NET result, complete the degree within 2 years for JRF / Assistant Professor, or 1 year for Ph.D.-only Category-3.
  • Ph.D. holders with a Master’s degree completed before 19/09/1991 can use the relaxed requirement of 50% instead of 55%.

Registration without a late fee ends on 05/11/2026 at 11:50 PM. The normal fee transaction must also be completed by this deadline. A separate submission period with an extra ₹500 charge is available from 06/11/2026 to 09/11/2026, ending at 11:50 PM.

Which dates are fixed for NTA CSIR UGC NET December 2026?

The examination will be held on 19, 22 and 27 December 2026. It will be a computer-based paper with Hindi and English questions. Candidates get 3 hours to complete their paper. Exam City slips and admit cards will be announced later.
